Estate & Succession Planning

Estate Planning

We understand that an estate plan is a family plan and that families are deeply complex and personal. We carefully craft and design each client’s plan to ensure their money and property are properly distributed to their loved ones.

We customize each of our client’s estate plans using current Washington laws to safeguard assets from any unnecessary Federal and State estate taxes, helping to transfer property from one generation to the next with efficiency. As part of our estate planning, we prepare wills, powers of attorney, health care directives, HIPAA releases, and technology consents. We consider other estate planning tools, like trusts, when the client’s situation requires more complex planning.

We help our clients plan for what is important and believe that a good estate plan does not need to come at a great economic cost to our clients. In addition to estate planning, we assist our clients with gifting, business succession, charitable gifts, asset protection, international estate planning, and tax saving trusts.

Succession Planning

Our valley was built on the backs of small, family businesses. Attorney Lindsey Weidenbach’s great grandfather began Wehmeyer’s TV and Appliance in downtown Cashmere in the mid-1950’s. Her father, Scott, took the business reigns when it was time for Jerry and Vern to retire. Business succession is something we at Gatens Green Weidenbach care a great deal about.

Helping clients transition their business is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the legal profession. We help our clients navigate their business through business succession, asset protection, business sale, and lease agreements, and we provide counsel on strategies for ensuring our clients’ businesses remain viable well into the future.
